Central Florida Fall Landscaping Checklist

As summer begins to wind down, Central Florida residents have a great opportunity to give their landscapes a little extra attention. While we may not experience the dramatic seasonal changes seen farther north, the cooler temperatures and shorter days still mean your lawn, plants, trees, and irrigation system need some adjustments.
Slow release fertilizer in September or October. This strengthens roots for cooler weather without forcing new growth that cold snaps can damage.
Watering Adjustments Dial back irrigation
Reduce watering schedules as temperatures drop and rain increases.
Plant Beds and Mulch Refresh mulch
Add a fresh layer of mulch around trees and flower beds to keep everything looking great.
Hold off heavy pruning
Avoid major tree or shrub pruning in the fall, as new flushes of growth can be vulnerable to early winter freezes.
Fall is the perfect time to clean up your landscape, prepare your plants for cooler weather, and get your property looking its best before the holiday season.
And perhaps most importantly, fall is a great time to look at your landscape as a whole. If your planting beds are looking tired, your irrigation isn't performing properly, or you've been thinking about giving your property a fresh new look, now is a great time to start planning.
